Wood Fauxwood & Timber Venetian Blinds

Timber Venetians have been popular over the last 5 years, especially those made with Western Red Cedar. The broad louvre width coupled with the varied wood colouring provides a warmth and feel difficult to compare with any other blind. 

More recently, wood "look-alike" or painted louvres have been become popular.

Today more "wood" Venetians are sold in "eco wood," "composite," or "PVC foamwood" material than the original Western Red Cedar (WRC). The main reason for this is price, but also the resistance to weathering since composite wood and plastic materials are superior to natural wood. For example, the  Mikronwood blind has a 5-Year Warranty against blistering, cracking and rotting while Western Red Cedar blinds are warranted for only two years. Further, when continually exposed to direct sunlight, Oiled WRC may need re-oiling every 12 to 18 months. However, nothing compares with the look, smell and feel of genuine Western Red Cedar!

Louvre widths for Western Red Cedar blinds come in 46 mm and 60 mm. Mikronwood is available in 50 mm. “Eco wood” comes in 50mm and 63 mm wide slat. A 63 mm louvre adding a hint of the look of "plantation shutters" in their style.

Pelmets - the Idealblinds difference: All 63 mm "shutter Look" blinds come with a micronwood 90 mm 'Sydney Harbour Bridge shape Pelmet as standard, for a truly superior finish. All other Wood Venetians come with a 75 mm Pelmet (Readimades companies for example only supply 63mm pelmets which don't properly conceal the head box). Idealblinds also provide their own exclusive 'Half Reveal' fit. Instead of covering a beautiful architrave, keep the blind within the opening as in the picture, even if there is not much depth

Split Timber Venetians

Ideal Blinds offers a split blind - into 2 or 3 sections - while retaining a single head rail and pelmet. Split Wood blinds can have a single rotate control to keep all slats at the same angle. A split blind allows one section to be lifted up while the other remains down.
